The art of navigation was developed in India nearly 6000 years ago.  The word 'navigation' is derived from the Sanskrit word navgatih.  The word 'navy' is derived from the Sanskrit word nou.

Jyoti Basu of West Bengal was the longest-serving Chief Minister of any Indian state.  He served for 23 years from 1977 to 2000 as Chief Minister.
